Mimi Chakraborty began her acting career as a model. She took part in the Femina Miss India contest. With the television series, “Champion”, she made her acting debut. She was also a part of a reputed acting institute in Kolkata where she has learnt her acting and modelling skills. Her second endeavour was the Ideas Creations-produced television series Gaaner Oparey. It was shown on Star Jalsha from June 28, 2010, to April 16, 2011. On the 150th anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore’s birth, Ideas Creations, Prosenjit Chatterjee’s production company, and Star Jalsha started the mega-serial “Gaaner Oparey” as homage. Rituparno Ghosh, who wrote the original script for Gaaner Oparey, Debojyoti Mishra, and other well-known figures from the film business, worked on the project.

Mimi Chakraborty has portrayed the female protagonist, Dola, in her debut movie, Bapi Bari Jaa. Later, she was a part of many blockbuster movies like “Proloy”, “Golpo Holeo Shotti”, “Yoddha”, “Khaad”, “Bojhena Shey Bojhena”, “Dracula Sir”, “SOS Kolkata”, and many more. She has also won some prestigious awards for her acting and contribution to the Bengali film industry, like Tele Samman for the TV serial Gaaner Opaarey, Big Bangla Rising Star Award, and 71st Annual BFJA Award for “Bapi Bari Ja”.

With the help of her acting skill and talent, she has inspired many new talented actors and actresses’ who are learning acting from their respective acting institute in Kolkata. Apart from acting, she has also been a role model in society through her political career. Due to her popularity in the field of acting, she has won the heart of thousands of people which eventually helped her to become a Member of Parliament by winning MP election from the constituency of Jadavpur in 2018.

Her acting skills and films have been a subject of film studies in almost every acting academy in Kolkata. She has acted in a leading role with many superstars of the Bengali film industry, like Dev, Jeet, Parambrata Chatterjee, and many more. She has also worked with a National Award-winning director Koushik Ganguly in the film Khaad where she has received special appreciation for her acting from every fraternity of the entertainment industry.

At present, she has been a role model for youth in Bengal by setting up an example to handle her acting and political career simultaneously and successfully only at the age of 33. There’s hardly any new talented actor and actress from any acting institute in Kolkata who does not follow Mimi Chakraborty’s film and acting skills. So far, it has been an inspiring journey for Mimi Chakraborty, who came from a small town in North Bengal. She never belonged to any filmy family and grew up in a normal middle-class house with an ambition to become a successful actress. Today, she has reached this position purely because of her hard work and dedication, and now she is regarded as one of the best actresses in Tollywood industry.
