The Rise of a Star, says Acting Academy
Anirban Bhattacharya was born in a middle-class family, which made his struggle inevitable. His family did not have the means to rent him a flat in Kolkata. Though he did not have enough money to support himself and live a comfortable life, theater was always at the core of his heart.
He got admission to the drama department of Rabindra Bharati University because of his love for acting. Rabindra Bharati also played a huge role in his life in cultivating the love for theater, says a modeling institute. In his second year of college, he was sure that he would work in the theater, but at that time, he did not realize that acting would become his entire career.
Between the years 2005 and 2008, he performed in various theatrical productions, including Jhunki (The Risk), which was directed by Steve Clorfiene, a famous artist. It was a collaboration between Rabindra Bharati University and the American Council. Bhattacharya played roles in Chandragupta, Debi Sarpamasta, and Raja Lear. He was in Minerva at that time, and then in 2013, he began his journey as a professional theater actor.
Films, television, and web series
According to reports from a modeling institute in Kolkata, he started to act in Bengali films like Ebhabeo Phire Asha Jay, Jodi Bolo Hyan, and Kader Kuler Bou. He then joined the big screen with a supporting role in Aparna Sen’s Arshinagar. He got the BFJA award for the Most Promising Actor Male for his role as ‘Bishan Roy’ in Arindam Sil’s Eagoler Chokh. He also received an award for the Best Debutant Actor for IBFA or International Bengali Film Award. He got an award of Ajeyo Samman by Ebela.
He was part of a non-fictional show called Apur Sangsar with notable actor Saswata Chatterjee. Bhattacharya also starred in Bhoomikanya. He received recognition for his role in Byomkesh as the lead protagonist.
Anirban Bhattacharya’s story is a motivation for all aspiring actors who, like him, want to make a career in acting. At the same time, his rise from a theater actor in Minerva to hitting the big screen makes us believe that dreams can truly become a reality.
